    Historically we have tended to grow up using quite narrow tyres – 21mm and 23mm. However modern thinking is proposing that for our sort of recreational riding a tyre width of 30mm (or wider) might be a better option – giving a good balance of rolling resistance vs. grip & cornering feel vs. comfort.
    This also gives more flexibility on tyre pressures.
