Volunteers wanted to assist Historic Coventry Trust

This is a communication we have received from Adam Tranter looking for experienced Ride Leaders to help out with with a Historic Coventry Trust event called ‘Lullaby’

Hello Adam,

Firstly for our upcoming event, Lullaby happening in November, could you be a lead cyclist for us? Leading a group of around 20 cyclist around the city safely on a set route.

Secondly, do you have any lead cyclist in your network you could urgently connect with to join our team and lead groups of cyclists around the city for this event? We are yet to fill spaces for this role and have a large number of people interested in partaking. We are looking for people who are experienced in cycling and leading groups of people safely around city roads.

Historic Coventry Trust present: Lullaby by Luke Jerram

Sunday 7 November 2pm – 7pm

At twilight and as darkness falls, around 150 bikes decorated with lights and newly commissioned bicycle bells attuned to the soundscape by Dan Jones and Guy Hughes by Friend or Foe will ride around community streets consecutively in the North and South of the City, honouring the Starley family, godfathers of bicycle invention, acknowledging Coventry as a City that moves, of invention, innovation and the future green travel. This moving artwork is part of marking Diwali and part of the Abundance of Light procession in Foleshill.

‘Lullaby is a gift to the city, a surround sound illuminated artwork, created by its own citizens. At dusk, when the suburban streets are quiet and empty a young family await the Lullaby to pass by their home. Music can be heard drifting down the streets and a shoal of twinkling lights is seen in the distance, getting closer. Only as the mass of illuminated bikes pass their house do they realise that the music is coming from speakers attached to decorated bikes producing the most ambient and serene music.’

 2pm – 4pm – Lullaby light bike decorating workshop

4pm – 7pm – Lullaby North and South light rides

Lullaby North starts at Foxford School and arrives to be part of the Abundance of Light procession in Foleshill and there is a choice of (Duration 2hr approx.)

Lullaby South starts at London Road Cemetery and weaves through the streets of Cheylemore before landing back to base (Duration 1hr approx.)

Together we will convoy through residential streets bringing joy, light and a twinkling soundscape direct to local resident’s doorsteps before becoming part of the procession of Festival of Lights for Diwali.  We need your experience and expertise to help us lead these rides around the city, to keep everyone safe and involved with the events core.
