CAUTION – THIS IS A DRAFT DOCUMENT WHICH IS WAITING TO BE APPROVED BY THE RIDE LEADERS

It can be a very enjoyable and sociable to explore the countryside with others in an organised group. However there can be challenges and it is good if you understand the Signals others in the group might give you and Calls you might hear.

In all cases any signalling defined in the Highway Code will be the default. Thse signals only apply in circumstances not covered by the Highway Code.

SIGNALS YOU WILL SEE BEING USED

CALLS YOU WILL HEAR 

If you hear a call of “CAR UP” it means that a car is approaching the group from BEHIND

If you hear  a call of “CAR DOWN” it means that you are being warned of a vehicle approaching the group from AHEAD

If you hear  a call of “SLOWING” or “STOPPING” it means that you need to take care to not run into those Riders AHEAD of you

If you hear  a call of “GRAVEL” or “GLASS” it means that you are being warned of a dangerous road  surface AHEAD

If you hear  a call of “CAR LEFT” or “CAR RIGHT” at a Junction is warns that a Rider ahead of you has spotted a vehicle approaching the Junction from the side.
