October 2018 – Welsh Marches.
Using a mixture of Travelodges, Premier Inns and local hotels seven of our members cycled for six days stopping at Cheltenham, Abergavenny, Builth Wells, Montgomery and Hartlebury. The weather was amazing – mostly sun with a gentle northerly wind that was clearly bringing cooler weather with it.
Highlights of the tour were the view over the Wye Valley from Symonds Yat, crossing The Gospel Pass at 549m in the Black Mountains and riding through the Wye and Severn valleys in mid-Wales. To complete a hilly tour we rode through Shropshire from the delightful town of Montgomery and rode over Brown Clee Hill before descending to Bewdley and onward to Coventry.
Everywhere we went people were very friendly and helpful and we had an altogether good, but exhausting tour – I don’t think anyone went out on the Sunday after we got home!
