Womens Group News

This page has a bit of background on the Womens Group, and what the current status is.

In 2020 cycling UK promoted a Women’s Festival of Cycling, and this prompted the establishment of a Womens Group within the Club. Vicky Palethorpe organised a series of activities for the Women Members of CTC Coventry to participate in over the course of July and August. This proved such a success that it led to the formation of a Women’s Group as a sub-section, and the appointment of the Women’s Group Co-ordinator as a formal Club role in the 2020 AGM. The group has proved to be vibrant and successful – both in terms of providing support for existing riders and encouraging new and improving cyclists.

Below are some updates on what has been happening with group as it grows and evolves.

Update March 2022

The Club’s Centenary year 2021 was full of successful events, including many of Women Only Rides,
Women’s Festival of Cycling, Women’s 3-days Tour and a joint BREEZE/CTC Ride.

Women were very well represented on the Centenary 100k ride (47%).

Following this success many women haven’t stopped cycling throughout the winter months. We participated in off road rides, cycled pass (and stopped for a cake at) some Historic properties and enjoyed blooms of the first spring flowers.

Now we are looking forward to the start of our new season on Sunday 20th March 2022.
