APRIL 28th for 10 days | MALLORCA 2025 Foreign Single Centre Mike Thomas | Tour Open for booking | Following the success of 3 holidays to Mallorca The Coventry CTC Group are running a 4th trip in Spring 2015 based on the excellent Pollenca Park Hotel in Port Pollensa which provides the perfect location for cycling, with a variety of terrain; three peninsulas, scenic coastline, the rolling centre of the island, and the challenging Tramantana mountains. Members will make their own bookings based on a Jet2 package which is very flexible with Birmingham flights. The core dates for the 10 days are 28th April – 8th May. We will offer easier 40-60km and harder 80-120km rides approximately each day. The holiday offers much more than cycling. There are delightful walks. A day’s sailing will be aranged in addition to hiring sailing boats locally. The sea has previously been warm to swim after cycling, and we have enjoyed room parties and music in a number of hotels nearby in the evenings MALLORCA 2025 INFORMATION PACK |
JUNE 26th to 30th | CTC COVENTRY WOMEN'S TOUR 2025 UK Dual Centre Led by Carla Skinner and Libby Foster | Tour Open for Booking Limited to Eight women | This is the sixth in an annual series of Women's Tours and the first time we have ventured overseas, if only to the Isle of Wight ! It is a 5 day/4 night tour but if spaces are available the tour can be joined on the second day. We will be using Travelodges in Ryde and Newport but it is possible for tour members to choose their own accommodation if it is compatible with the tour programme. Attendees will need to coordinate and make their own bookings for both travel and accommodation following the guidance given in the prospectus. The Isle of Wight is a small island but with lots of hills and history. Cyclists can enjoy some of the most stunning views. We will be riding some 30-45 miles a day sometimes over challenging terrain but we will also be taking plenty of time to see some of the cultural attractions of the Island. 2025 WOMEN'S TOUR INFORMATION PACK |
SEPTEMBER 22nd to 26th | WALES 2025 UK Single Centre Tour Tour Organiser - Mike Thomas | Tour Open for Booking | As a member of the Midland Association of Mountaineers, I've made a group booking for the club for 3 nights commencing on September 22nd staying in Glan Dena which is purpose built accommodation situated on the A5 about 5 miles beyond Capel Curig in North Wales as the map below. Glan Dena is unmanned with mainly 4 bedded dormitories, ample showers and loos, a large kitchen/dining area with all mod cons for self catering, and a comfortable lounge with a welcome log burning stove. There's plenty of parking spaces. The cost for non MAM members is £17 per night. There's on and off road cycling opportunities, but subject to weather there's two on-road rides I'm keen to lead. Both start from Glan Dena and take an quiet old lane down the delightful Nant Francon valley to Bethesda and towards Bangor. One ride goes from here in a western loop down to Llanberis, up the Llanberis Pass, and on to Capel Curig where we follow the A5 back to Glan Dena. This would be about 30 miles and 2500ft of ascent. Since the road improvements along the north coast of Wales, traffic for Holyhead now take these roads and the A5 is fairly safe to cycle on. The second ride is longer and from Bangor mainly follows a National Cycle Network route to Conwy. From here we take a minor road along the Conwy valley to Betws - Y - Coed and then climb up to Glan Dena mainly on the A5. This would be about 47 miles and 3300ft of ascent, but this could potentially be reduced by 15 miles by taking a local train from Llandudno Junction to Betws-y-Coed. Please email me if you are interested in joining this break or need more info. Send email to Mike Thomas |
