Womens Group Annual Review

CTC COVENTRY – WOMEN’S ANNUAL REVIEW

2025 Season Summary

As we reflect on a remarkable year of cycling, it is inspiring to see how our community has grown in both strength and spirit throughout the 2025 season.

International Womens Day

We commenced the 2025 season with a highly successful International Women’s Day Ride, celebrating the life and legacy of George Eliot, one of Warwickshire’s most iconic literary figures. Led by Vicky and supported by a member of the George Eliot Fellowship, we were also honoured to have a local MP join us at the start to see the group off.

Participation in the Tri-Vets

In June, our club hosted the 100-mile Tri-Vets Ride, attracting 47 participants from Coventry and across the region. I am incredibly proud to share that 25% of the riders were women.

Notably, at least half of these women completed the full “century” distance for the first time following months of intensive training. Our Women’s Group (WG) members also played a vital role behind the scenes—from Carla’s meticulous route planning and reconnaissance rides to coordinating the event catering.

Isle of Wight Tour

Feeling fit and strong following the Tri-Vets, a team of four ventured to the Isle of Wight at the end of June for a memorable Women’s Tour 2025, organized by Carla.

Camping Trip

In July, four of our women joined a group of ten for a fantastic two-night camping trip to Sibbertoft in Northamptonshire. The highlight was a 40-mile circuit through rolling countryside, featuring a visit to the Naseby Battle monument and a slightly unnerving, yet fun, ride through the two 400-meter-long Oxendon tunnels. Whether enjoying Greek gyros on the campsite or sunset strolls by the lake, it was the perfect blend of cycling and socialising in the great outdoors.

Regular Wednesday Rides

Throughout the year, our Wednesday rides continued to be a staple for the Women’s Group. These regular outings remain the perfect way to maintain fitness, relax, and explore local destinations in great company.

….And looking ahead to 2026

Looking ahead to 2026, we aim to build on these successes by introducing new routes and welcoming even more riders to the group. Whether you are training for your first century ride or looking for a friendly social group, we look forward to seeing you on the road for another fantastic year of cycling.
