Womens Group Overview

Our Approach

Women are hugely underrepresented in cycling making up only about a quarter of cyclists as a whole…. Only 20% of Cycling UK members are women.
However, they are also the group that have the most to gain from taking part in a fun, healthy and sociable activity.
At Coventry CTC, we’re proud to see our community growing – women now make up an impressive 39% of our Rides Programme participants!

Our women attend all kinds of rides (long, short, stamina building, off-road, and our Introductory rides for those who wish to try out riding in a group) and UK and European Tours.

In Coventry CTC we know what women enjoy the most during a ride:  camaraderie, the lack of pressure, and the chance to discuss topics such as families and friendships, cultural events, practical and comfortable clothing, dealing with saddle sores, as much as the technical or physical challenges.

Our Activities

In support of this we have a number of women focused activities and events –
        • We offer Inclusive women-focused mid-week rides (usually on Wednesdays). These welcoming rides are aimed at creating a friendly and supportive environment, and open to anyone who wants to join, including biological women, trans women and non-binary people.
These rides are 20 – 40 miles long and are advertised in the Club’s Weekly Bulletin, Club Rides Schedule  and also through our Women’s What’sApp group.
        •  We regularly organise Women’s Group Tours
        •  We celebrate International Women’s Day
